ליבת ה-A2 היא המערכת האוטומטית המכנית המורכבת שלו, המיוצרת בעבודת יד במפעל גרמני ותיק. בניגוד למערכות אוטומטיות רבות המבוססות על רכיבים אלקטרוניים נוספים, מנגנון זה פועל באופן מכני לחלוטין. הוא מופעל בתחילת התקליט ומתנתק לחלוטין מרגע שהמחט נוגעת בחריץ. גישה זו מבטיחה שהמנגנון אינו משפיע כלל על איכות הצליל במהלך הנגינה, ומאפשר חופש תנועה מלא לזרוע ולראש הפטיפון.
הפטיפון בנוי על בסיס מארז עץ כבד (MDF), המונח על תת-שילדה צפה. מבנה זה נועד לבודד את מכלולי הנגינה הרגישים מרעידות חיצוניות ופנימיות, ובכך למזער עיוותים והפרעות. רגליות אלומיניום מתקדמות, הכוללות שיכוך סיליקון, משלימות את מערך הבידוד ומספקות יציבות מרבית.
זרוע, צלחת וראשה-A2 מצויד בזרוע אלומיניום אולטרה-קלה (Ultra-Light-Mass) באורך 8.6 אינץ', המתוכננת להפיק את המיטב מכל ראש פטיפון. הזרוע מגיעה מכוילת מראש מהמפעל עם ראש מדגם Ortofon 2M Red, הידוע ביכולתו להפיק צליל דינמי ומפורט. הכיול המוקדם של משקל המעקב (Tracking Force) וה-Anti-Skating הופך את ההתקנה הראשונית לפשוטה ומהירה.
צלחת הנגינה עשויה אלומיניום וכוללת טבעת שיכוך פנימית (TPE) המונעת תהודה ומבטיחה סיבוב אחיד ויציב. הצלחת מונעת באמצעות תת-צלחת, תכנון המפחית עוד יותר את הרעידות המגיעות מהמנוע.
חווית שימושהתפעול האוטומטי המלא מאפשר למשתמשים להניח תקליט וללחוץ על כפתור ההפעלה. הזרוע תתרומם, תנוע באופן אוטומטי לתחילת התקליט ותרד בעדינות אל החריץ. בסיום צד התקליט, הזרוע תתרומם ותחזור למקומה באופן אוטומטי, והמנוע יכבה. תכונה זו מספקת נוחות מרבית ומונעת שחיקה מיותרת של המחט והתקליט.
